Pixar’s ‘Brave’ Easter Eggs Revealed:
We love discovering the hidden easter eggs that Pixar hides within their movies. We’ve been collecting the easter eggs for some time now, having extensive write-ups of all the hidden secrets in
Ratatouille,
WALL-E,
Up,
Toy Story 3,
Cars 2, and even the short film
Day & Night. When it was announced that Pixar would be released a film set in the highlands of 10th century Scotland, many fans wondered how they’d be able to sneak in some of the contemporary staples like the Pizza Planet truck or a character from their next film (in this case,
Monsters University). But early on, director
Mark Andrews assured us that all the fun easter eggs would be included one way or another. Where is the Pizza Planet Truck? Find out for yourself, after the jump.
The Pizza Planet Truck has appeared in every Pixar film so far except
The Incredibles. Disney has actually put real Pizza Planet restaurants at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Paris.
In Brave, the Pizza Planet truck appears in The Witch’s wood shop.
The Witch, an eccentric crone disguised as a woodcarver specializing in whittling wooden bear figurines and conjuring haphazard spells, showcases her mysterious and inexplicable knowledge of the future with a carved figurine of the infamous Pizza Planet truck, an iconic delivery vehicle that’s appeared in nearly every full-length feature film from Pixar Animation Studios since 1995’s Toy Story. Disney•Pixar’s Brave is in theaters now.
A113: What started as an inside joke of CalArts alumni (a reference to the classroom number that was used by Animation students, including John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Brad Bird, Pete Docter) has been present in not only every Pixar film, but Disney movies, Iron Giant, The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, Powerpuffgirls and Tinytoon Adventures.
And while the Pizza Planet truck appears as a small wood carving in Brave, we never see it’s rear, and thus the A113 license plate is never shown.n I have yet to find the A113 reference in Brave, but I’m sure it exists. Post it in the comments if you find it!
John Ratzenberger has made an appearance in every Pixar movie to date. He’s considered the animation studio’s good luck charm. He appeared as Hamm in the Toy Story series, PT Flea in A Bug’s Life, the Abominable Snowman in Monsters, Inc, the Moonfish school in Finding Nemo, the Underminer in The Incredibles, Mack in Cars, Mustafa in Ratatouille, John the human in Wall-E, and Construction Foreman Tom in Up.
In Brave, John Ratzenberger provides the voice of Gordon the Guard (seen in the still above in the background left).
The Luxo Ball: The yellow and red design can be seen on a shield in the castle.
